1 million pageviews drive!!! by nekokawai, journal
1 million pageviews drive!!!
1 million pageviews for my 10year anniversary on Deviantart! I'm kinda close (maybe).
Yes yes, pageviews don't matter, but at the same time maybe it'll encourage me to work on my comic/art more. Art for art's sake is my motto but we're also on an art site to promote, so hopefully I can get some interest when my comic comes out!
So here's the deal, all you have to do is add me, fave this journal, make a journal with something that mentions my page and links back to my page, then reply to this message and put the link to your journal here, I will then put you into a drawing for a FULL PROFESSIONAL COMMISSION, in color with background, any s
Let's do this all proper like. I tried this a about 50 days ago but lost track of what I drew that was a total fail. I'm re-doing it though.
Rules:
1. Draw 100 characters in 100 days or less
2. Doesn't have to be a character a day
3. Characters can't be drawn more than twice
4. A journal with these rules has to be posted
5. If a character belong to someone else credit must be given
I have until august 21, to finish the 100 characters challenge
Hate me, despise me,
But know that you will never be rid of me.
I am the wretched beast inside your heart.
I am the very weight of your insecurity.
I am the feeling of dread that binds you,
Slithering through shaking veins.
To me you are but a simple host,
And while you suffer, I will grow.
Feeding off the pain that tears you apart.
I'll put into words and call it art.

yesterday, i wrote
your name on a slip of paper
and folded it into an origami star.
it hangs on my bonsai tree
(little trees for big

for those times when it feels like
absolutely nothing
can make me
happy.
sometimes, when even stars
and little trees aren't
enough to make me happy, i cut
down the paper stars and pretend
that it is a meteorite shower in my
bedroom, but sometimes that
just makes it worse
because i realize
that shooting stars are actually
falling stars;
we are all just stars that have
forgotten the happy-thoughts that
made us fly,
it's just that some of us are blaz
Legendary actor, Christopher Lee, has died at the age of 93.

Though the man starred in epic film franchises, like Star Wars and The Lord of the Rings, he was always associated with Hammer Horror. Specifically, Dracula, whom he played on numerous occasions. The Hammer connection led to him being given roles in many of Tim Burton’s movies; Burton being a die hard fan of the style and genre.
Having generally been the bad-ass face (and voice!) of super-villainy for 50 years, the British had no choice but to knight him, and he became Sir Christopher Lee in 2009.
Inverted heroes are not a move forward. by jollyjack, journal
Inverted heroes are not a move forward.
Taking a known hero of fiction and altering their gender and/or race is a stunt. A gimmick. They do it for the sake of “shock” advertising rather than out of any real desire to add variety to the predominantly white male pantheon.
There have been a few news articles to stoke my irritation over the last couple of months. First there was word that Thor of the Marvel universe was to become female, then there was a rumour James Bond was going to be recast with a black actor and now there are mumbles that the Spiderman who may/may not show up in the cinematic Marvel universe will be a black kid: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/blogs-trendin

Writing Tips and So Much More
Being a writer (or trying to be), I looked up a whole bunch of deviantART guides on writing and other related articles.
So if you are in the same boat I am (one that is quickly sinking into shark infested waters). I have some tips for you, or rather, I have a list of other people's articles you should read. (With a little commentary from me. :D ) These aren't in any particular order, so don't assume the first article will be much more helpful than the sixth or seventh. I like the guides that talk to the reader and make it personal. Like "I know from personal experience that writer's block can be a challenge. God, don't we all know. But I hav

PE: Developing characters, stories and manga
Hi everyone! How's your day going? :la: Yesterday I shared with you the background tutorials that I considered to be useful to your development as artists and today I'd like to show you a few tutorials that have helped me greatly to develop my characters, stories and storytelling skills thus leading to better results while creating a manga comic. I hope these will encourage you to keep working on your mangas or to give it a shot if you have never tried before! Drawing manga can be a very demanding and sometimes frustrating task, but it's also a very rewarding and nourishing experience that you shouldn't miss out on! Do your best!
